Intro

What is change? Is it situational? Is it what we define it to be? Change is a crucial element in the world of typography. We wanted to use type to describe the definition of change. This was a poster series created by a group of creatives, each with different words to define using experimental typography. We then composed the posters from the designers to make an accordion fold booklet that encapsulates the definition of change simply through type. These posters consist of different interpretations of these words and how they connect to change.

Objective

Create a collaborative typography series that visualizes the concept of "change" through multiple creative lenses. The goal was to compile diverse interpretations into a cohesive accordion fold booklet that demonstrates typography's power to express complex ideas while celebrating the unique voice of each contributor.

Challenge

After completing the series, I decided to prepare some wood cuts to give life and texture to the vectorized type as image we created. This series then included, 16 different posters, 1 accordion fold book, and 2 large wood cuts. The definition of change also changes, so the works needed to reinvent themselves as well.

Result

The CHANGE Typography Series became a powerful exploration of how perspective shapes meaning. Completed in February 2024, the accordion fold booklet—with its embedded wood cuts—created a tactile, immersive experience that transcends typical poster compilations. The project solidified typography's role as a tool for expressing nuanced, multifaceted ideas, proving that when creatives collaborate around a single concept, the results can be both individually compelling and collectively profound.
