Intro

Soulgraph Co. needed a comprehensive 18-month planner that balanced functional organization with visual warmth. The challenge was designing 315 pages of consistent, navigable layout without sacrificing the illustrative, organic aesthetic that defines the brand. Working closely with the client, I developed a modular design system that allowed botanical imagery and color variation to feel intentional rather than decorative, turning the planner into an object people wanted to use daily.

Objective

Create a full-length planner system that maintained brand cohesion across hundreds of pages while providing practical functionality for long-term planning. The design needed to offer visual interest and personality through illustration and color, encouraging users to engage with their planning practice as a mindful ritual rather than a utilitarian task.

Challenge

Designing at this scale required solving two competing problems: How to create enough visual variation to keep the product engaging across 315 pages without overwhelming the user or diluting the brand identity, and how to establish information hierarchy and functionality that remained intuitive despite the illustrative, organic design direction. Each element—from monthly spreads to weekly layouts to reference pages—had to work independently while contributing to a cohesive whole. The botanical illustration system needed to feel fresh on every page while using a consistent approach.

Result

The completed planner weaves illustration and function together through a flexible grid system and rotating color palette that keeps visual momentum without feeling chaotic. Monthly cover pages feature full botanical compositions, while weekly spreads use accent florals and tonal blocks to guide the eye through planning sections. The system allowed Soulgraph Co. to launch a product that feels as rewarding to hold and look through as it is useful to write in—where design supports rather than distracts from the act of organizing life.
